Music I listen to
I like a lot of 60's and 70's music as well as scores from good musicals. For the most part, much of today's music just kind of leaves me cold-
technically good, but not much soul. I do, however, like Beyonce, Kid Rock, Nickelback, Kelly Clarkson, Enya and some others. My all time favorites are the
Beatles, Neil Sedaka, Bruce Springsteen, the Mamas & Papas, Journey, Air Supply, Elton John, Waylon Jennings, Marty Robbins, John Denver and Joan Baez.
Interesting facts about me
I come from a musical family where all of us kids sang or played an instrument. We definitely got our 'musicality' from my mother, since my
father's awful tone-deafness was a family joke for years! My mother sang on one of those old live radio shows in the 1940's (now I am really dating
myself, aren't I?). When I was growing up I truly believed that my mother knew the words to every single song ever written!
Although I loved music, I focused on Theatre Arts as a young adult, eventually performing in off-off Broadway. Later, I went back to college to earn my degree in education. I am now a teacher and I love what I do!
My kids are now grown and I have been blessed with grandchildren. I am happy to say that one of my daughters inherited my mother's great voice!
I have liked lots of singers over the years, but no singer has touched my soul like Josh Groban. I just discovered him a couple of years ago when I heard "February Song", but the singer was not identified. I was so blown away that I spent the evening on-line trying to find out who sang that song! Within a week or so I bought every CD of his I could find. Anyway, I don't think I've been quite the same since! I have never been fixated on a performer before, but there is something about him that is absolutely mesmerizing. Grobies know exactly what I mean!
